Happy feet!!! Your feet will crack in the mountains it's so dry and its common to have heated floors so your feet are a mess sometimes. I use it every night and it really helps. It's thick so a little goes a long way.

Spray Bottle Madness

In the summer we just spray the house or around the yard with a water bottle and in the winter we add food coloring to water bottle and spray the snow making art. This is so much fun the kids love it and I love it because I get a short break. Photos to come this winter.

Explore Your Own Backyard With A Map

On days that I'm wanting the kids out and about exploring the yard. We make maps, this is a fun project to do with the children. We add things on the maps for them to try and find.  I tend to keep it about nature, flowers, rocks etc but sometimes add something from inside the house too. I will add bear tracks and draw them in the dirt just for fun. Also you can do this inside the house for a rainy day activity. Just a simple idea that might be fun for you too.

Dogs, Moose, Bears Oh My!!

Hi had no idea that our South African Mastiff was going to love the snow. I also had no idea that moose are mean! They are fascinating creatures that's for sure. But don't get in between a moose and her baby! If you do incounter a moose the locals tell me to either run as fast as you can or start rotating around a tree because they have horrible eyesight and the tree will give you a little protection at least. I saw my first bear ever crossing the road in the crosswalk downtown early one morning. They won't bother you they are mostly just scared of you and will run away. They do tell their babies however to climb up the tree if they think you are to close to their little ones and I found this so cool. You also need to keep your trash locked or you will have a bear in the garage! Some hardcore mountain bikers put eyes in the back of helmets while on trails this is so the mountain lions don't follow you. We also had a donkey in the yard once, living in the mountains you will encounter lots of wildlife.

Attitude

The first 2 weeks we got here I wouldn't drive, even though I'm originally from England I have not driven in the snow before. That's your very first test of living in Colorado. Can you do it? Yes you can! Drive slow, drive slow, drive slow, and good tires!!!!!! I heard this about 100 times but it's the truth.  Oh and You will at some point end up in a ditch. But I'm up in the mountains this isn't true for Denver.

Altitude my son calls it attitude I think he might be on to something. Altitude sickness is no joke. The trick is no trick at all it's WATER!!!  I was so sick. I kept telling my husband it's so bright make it go away, meaning the snow. Your head, eyes hurt and you just feel like ass. But water and rest is all you can do to get better. Some family members have been really ill and needed to go on oxygen but this isn't common for all altitude sicks but if you feel bad just check in with the local Dr and in the mountains you usually will have his cell phone number.

Surf 2 Ski From The Beginning

From one day on our friends beach collecting shells to the next day making snowman.  I now am skiing and loving it more than anything I could ever imagine. Colorado has the most amazing summers and the winters are pure magic! But I'll tell you how I got to this point in this Blog.  The quality of life I now live and have given our children is wonderful.  It has been almost 2 years since this mother/happy wife/fashionista/stylist moved from Central Coast California with all my high heels to the Mountains of Colorado. We now call my collection of shoes the Cemetery of Heels.  I sometimes blow them kisses and threaten my husband that one day when he gets home, I will be in a full gown and heels just shoveling snow maybe a little wine would be involved.  This blog I hope, will give you a light hearted side to change. Sometimes change is hard but for this family it's been an amazing adventure.  So we begin...
